    Mi último adiós

    "Mi último adiós"
    original version by José Rizal

    Otros te dan sus vidas sin dudas, sin pesar;
El sitio nada importa, ciprés, laurel o lirio,
Cadalso o campo abierto, combate o cruel martirio,

    Y al fin anuncia el día tras lóbrego capuz;

    Doodling Some Thoughts

    Pag-ibig sa Tinubuang Lupa (Bayan)

Because the country is commemorating today the birth of Andres Bonifacio (his 152nd), I am posting a music based from his poem “Pag-ibig sa Tinubuang Bayan”. The song, (almost) eponymous to the poem, was composed by Restituto Umali using stanzas 1, 4, 15, 25, and 28.

The audio below is from my transcription of the sheet music of the song.

The words from the song are provided below. I suggest you also search for a vocal recording so you can appreciate the music more.

Umawit, tumula, kumatha’t sumulat (umawit, tumula)
    Kalakhan din niya’y isinisiwalat.

    Kung ang bayang ito’y masasapanganib
    At siya ay dapat ipagtangkilik
Ang anak, asawa, magulang at kapatid
    Isang tawag niya’y tatalikdan pilit.

At hanggang may dugo’y ubusing itig
