Rogatien Vachon
Rogatien Vachon, dit Rogie Vachon, (né le à Palmarolle, Québec au Canada) est un joueur professionnel canadien de Hockey sur glace qui évoluait au poste de gardien de but[1]. Il joue pendant 17 saisons dans la Ligue nationale de hockey, évoluant successivement pour les Canadiens de Montréal, les Kings de Los Angeles, les Red Wings de Détroit et les Bruins de Boston.
Biographie
[modifier | modifier le code]Au cours de ses six saisons à Montréal, Vachon remporte trois coupes Stanley en 1968, 1969 et 1971, et il partage le trophée Vézina, décerné au meilleur gardien de but de la LNH, avec Gump Worsley en 1968. Il participé trois fois au Match des étoiles de la LNH.
Il est échangé aux Kings de Los Angeles le où il joue pendant sept saisons. Il est un élément important des premières années d'histoire des Kings qui ont retiré son numéro 30 en 1985. Il termine sa carrière au terme de la saison 1981-1982 en jouant deux ans pour Détroit et Boston. Il dispute un total de 795 parties dans la LNH pour un bilan de 355 victoires, 291 défaites et 127 matches nuls, avec une moyenne de 2,99 buts alloués par match. Après sa retraite, Vachon exerce différentes fonctions au sein de l'organisation des Kings.

Rogatien Rosaire "Rogie" Vachon (born September 8, 1945) is a Canadian former professionalice hockeygoaltender who played for the Montreal Canadiens, Los Angeles Kings, Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League between 1967 and 1982.
Montreal Canadiens
[edit]Vachon entered the National Hockey League in 1966-67 with the Montreal Canadiens, as a backup goaltender to Gump Worsley. He played only 19 games during the season, but played most of the games in the playoffs and led the Canadiens to the Stanley Cup Finals. They lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs, but Vachon now had a permanent spot on the Canadiens roster. Punch Imlach, the coach of the Leafs, referred to Vachon as a junior B goaltender in an attempt to rattle him during the Stanley Cup finals.
Vachon played 39 games in the 1967–68 season and won 23 of them. He and Worsley shared the Vezina Trophy, with a combined 2.26 GAA, the lowest since 1958-59. Montreal won the Stanley Cup that season and in 1968–69 as well. During the 1969–70 season, Worsley was traded to the Minnesota North Stars and Vachon got the starting job, but the Canadiens missed the playoffs.
